The results were analysed by the teachers and then individual results were shared with the children.
Children then had to work through the objectives providing evidence that they had understood what was required and that they had ‘mastered’ that particular objective or outcome. They had to self and then peer assess before asking the teacher to confirm.
Teachers worked with children who were progressing on an outcome and provided additional support as well as conferenced with children so that the children could explain their approach and thinking. It was up to the student to provide the evidence that they had met the outcome.
Children who has already met the outcome did not have to spend time being taught something they already knew or work on something that they already understood. The outcomes that they had met in the pre assessment were highlighted to show they already understood it.
The children had to self assess, then ask a peer to check their evidence before asking the teacher to do a final check. This demonstrated to the teacher the understanding of both the child providing the evidence and indeed that of the child who did the peer check.
